Malene b Custom Handmade Carpets debuts new collection “Textures” and exhibits at ICFF Show May 15-18, 2010

Brooklyn, NY: Malene b- Custom Handmade Carpets will debut its Textures Collection at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in booth 1753. ICFF will take place at the Javits Center in New York City on May 15-18, 2010. Malene b specializes in globally inspired custom handmade carpets designed by principal designer, Malene Barnett.
The Textures collection echo’s earth’s patterns with bold abstraction, while celebrating nature’s organic character. The carpets use multiple techniques to achieve complex textures and to evoke the colors and vibrancy found in nature’s palette. Palm fronds from Tahiti are the inspiration for Moorea, a sunburst of pattern, color and texture. It will be shown in hand tufted New Zealand wool and silk textured Hi/Lo tweed construction. The turquoise water of St. Vincent, Malene’s mother’s home country, is the inspiration for this silk rich Tibetan hand knotted design. The textured skin of Kerala’s elephants are stylized in abstract to create a multi tonal pattern with silk highlights. It will be presented in a Tibetan hand knotted wool and silk with pencil carving for definition.
Malene b will be introducing an additional color way of its successful Mehndi design. The new multi tonal cream color way will be offered in pure Tibetan wool and Chinese silk in a Tibetan hand knot incorporating a multi level cut and loop technique. Mehndi interprets the 5000-year-old tradition of adorning a Hindu bride’s hands with Henna.
All Malene b carpets are made to order in any size, shape or color and feature three-dimensional hand sculpturing techniques. Suggested list prices: New Zealand hand tufted wool starting at $75 sqft, Tibetan 100 knot wool starting at $95 sqft, and Tibetan 100 knot wool/silk starting at $125 sqft.
