Suriname Photo Gallery

Every year, I try to visit a new country, and I recently returned from Suriname, which is located in the northern part of South America. I really didn’t know much about the country except knowing a few people. It was a quick adventure that left me wanting to explore more.

The hand-carved art is by the Maroons in Suriname. I’m obsessed with pattern and fell instantly in love with these wood carvings. I wish I had more time to find the source, but for now, I will continue to admire their work from afar.

The Basilica church is the oldest building in the world made out of wood. Besides loving the architecture, the modern color combination is hot.

I was greeting by this painting at Suriname airport. It made the full day of travel worthwhile.

Black and white, a classic color combination, works on contemporary homes in tropical environments too.

Out of the 800 species of wood found in Suriname, Purple Heart is my favorite.

Aren't these pendant lights beautiful? I do not know much about them, but they look like they were made from a solid piece of wood.

The color is gorgeous!

Stay tuned for my next adventure!
